It implements three models for the thermodynamic properties of pure fluids: equations of state explicit in Helmholtz energy, the modified Benedict-Webb-Rubin equation of state, and an extended corresponding states ECS model. These properties can be displayed in Tables and Plots through the graphical user interface they are also accessible through spreadsheets or user-written applications accessing the REFPROP dll. So, I'm suspecting nothing, and just build in Docker is the best option I got.This program, developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology NISTcalculates the thermodynamic and transport properties of industrially important fluids and their mixtures. You could try to statically link the runtimes, which is what I usually do, though there are some good reasons to not do that. Maybe problem of build environment difference. Try with an absolute path to the dylib? I thought the same.

A docker environment would allow you to run code inside the container, but that would not yield a platform-independent node file to my knowledge. Strongly recommend to use the Anaconda python distribution, or start with miniconda. I agree that docker is a good option and idea, and I regularly build REFPROP inside docker containers for my projects to ensure that the build doesn't mess with the main operating system.

Please provide a complete build log for your build on OSX "it failed" doesn't give me any idea how to help you get it workfing. You must recompile on the correct operating system. It worked without any errors in Windows, but not in macOS. So I tried to build in macOS, but it failed. And when running that in deployment environment linuxit failed on running with following error. If there's a fix to the speed problem, this would be great. I do not use the new refprop subroutine but kept using the flash functions which I have alway used. I noticed that the resulting calcs take 4X the time taken by the fortran code in refprop 9. I use gfortran to compile the refprop fortran code with a fortran 90 program to calculate fluid properties during a compression-expansion process.
